This post is directed to any readers who are interested in the state of Combinatorics in the United Kingdom.
I have been asked to produce a “landscape document” for Combinatorics for the forthcoming International Review of Mathematical Sciences. The document has to be finished by the end of September.
The important headings for this document are:
- Subject breakdown (number of researchers in each research area)
- Discussion of research areas (a frank assessment of past and current international standards, supported by highlights)
- Discussion of research community (demographic trends, e.g. age distribution)
- Cross-disciplinary and outreach activities.
I would like to ask for help with this. Please supply me with your views on the health of your research area in the UK, including recent highlights. Any assistance with the statistics would be much appreciated!
Please email all comments to me (p.j.cameron(at)qmul.ac.uk), absolutely no
later than mid-September. Thanks.
Information gathered will be kept on a web page here.
